ABOUT GRACE WHITWORTH  

 

Grace was born in Eastlake, Ohio where she trained at The Fine Arts Association in Willoughby, OH. She received the "Outstanding Senior" scholarship award and attended Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. PPU awarded Grace with the Nicole Marie Falbo Memorial Scholarship Award. Grace received her BA in Dance with concentrations in both Classical Ballet and Jazz/Contemporary techniques. After graduating, Grace moved to Chicago, IL and was accepted into the scholarship program at Lou Conte Dance Studio home of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Her professional career started with a classical modern dance company called, Winifred Haun and Dancers to which, she is grateful for to this day.

 

Grace simultaneously joined Jaxon Movement Arts under choreographer Jacqueline Stewart and had the pleasure of dancing in Ms. Stewart's most notable duet, "It's Not Enough to Close Your Eyes" which was awarded the grand prize of $10,000 from Joyce Soho A.W.A.R.D. Show. The company is currently based in both Chicago and NYC. Jaxon has performed in NYC for Hatch Performance Series, Current Sessions at Wild Project, Reverb at Baruch Performing Arts Center, The Secret Theater "Moving Beauty" Series in LIC, Dance Gallery at Alvin Ailey, Blind Tiger in Brooklyn,  FAB Festival on West 4th Street in the Lower East Side as well as WAXWorks at Triskelion in Williamsburg and most recently, Harvest Dance Festival in Chicago.  www.jaxonmovementarts.com

 

Grace joined a contemporary modern company with classical chinese dance trained choroeographer, Yin Yue of Yin Yue Dance Company in NYC.  YYDC has performed in Current Sessions at Wild Project, Blind Tiger in Brooklyn, Nanchang, China cultural exchange tour, Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out, Peridance Theater, Dixon Place, The New York International Fringe Festival, Cool New York Dance Festival, FLICFest at Irondale Performing Arts Center in Brooklyn, "Fete de l'Hurricane" at Red Bean Studios and most recently, self-produced joint performance with Jiangxi Zhoungshan Dance School in China at Peridance Theater in Union Square. www.yinyuedance.com

 

Grace is also the Co-Producer of a bi-monthly, multi-arts show in Brooklyn, NY presented by JACK performance space, called BLIND TIGER. The show that prides itself on creativity and collaboration of artists and audience in an intimate, positive setting.
